1. Avenue Services Community Director Vacancies

Avenue Services has a Board of Directors made up of three appointed representatives from the Council, three from Sanctuary and two representatives from the Blacon community (Community Directors).

Community Directors represent the Blacon community to ensure that the views of the Blacon community are heard and involved in every Board meeting.

Vacancies for Community Directors are advertised annually, during August, prior to the Avenue Services AGM Meeting normally held in September.

What qualifications do I need?

You don’t need any qualifications to be a community board director but the person we are looking for should have:

  • a strong affiliation or interest in Blacon
  • excellent time keeping and time management skills
  • a willingness to commit time to the role

We DO NOT expect you to have:

  • previous experience of sitting on a board or committee. Although we will, of course, consider people with such experience.
  • business skills, such as management, financial or legal. Again, these are very useful but mainly we are looking for life experiences and the commitment or track record of improving services and facilities in Blacon.

How long do Board Directors serve on the Board?

Community Directors can serve for a period of up to two years. If elected in 2017 a Board Director will serve on the board until the Annual General Meeting in 2019.

2.New Customer Team

We are looking for people who live in Blacon to join a team to help develop communications with residents. We want to improve our website, send out informative newsletters and hold events and activities to engage more widely. 5.Blacon Area Panel

The panel has the responsibility of the Community Investment Budget which involves local groups applying for funding to support local community projects and groups.

The panel meets on the second Monday of the month at the Parade Enterprise Centre, 14 The Parade, Blacon, Chester, CH1 5HN at 2pm.

6.Estate Walkabouts

Housing Officer Walks.

Walkabouts are arranged for the residents to join representatives including  Community Enforcement Officers, Cheshire West and Chester Council officers and PCSOs. The walkabouts are intended to deal with estate/neighbourhood issues ranging from unkempt gardens to damaged pavements. They are carried out every three months in each area. All the walkabout dates are shown in the Events Calendar
