Adventure playground apprenticeship is the perfect fit for Mollie

4 February 2020

An apprentice working at Blacon Adventure Playground has spoken about the benefits and opportunities her role offers to mark National Apprenticeship Week.

Mollie Gillott had always wanted to pursue a career working with children and young people, so an apprenticeship at the playground, in Kipling Road, was the perfect fit.

Blacon Adventure Playground is owned and managed by Avenue Services and is one of the most popular facilities for young people in Blacon, welcoming hundreds of visitors each year.

Mollie’s role involves planning and delivering activities, helping to look after the animals at the playground’s on-site farm and ensuring children’s safety and wellbeing while they visit the site.

She said: “My apprenticeship has been an amazing experience, every day is a highlight.

“I’ve gained knowledge, new skills and experience and had opportunities to plan projects and take responsibility for activities. I work with a great team and I love being able to make a difference to children’s lives.”

Mollie says she would encourage anyone thinking about their next step or looking for a way to access their dream career to consider an apprenticeship.

She explained: “Apprenticeships create opportunities for everyone and allow you to gain practical experience and qualifications.

“The support you receive as an apprentice is fantastic. I have a mentor who works with me at all times, as well as great colleagues and an amazing manager who help and guide me every step of the way.”

National Apprenticeship Week (3-9 February) is an annual event, organised by the National Apprenticeship Service, which celebrates the talents and skills of apprentices and promotes the value of apprenticeship programmes.
