Popular nursery ready to take on more staff

19 January 2018

A popular childcare facility in Blacon is going from strength to strength after only nine months in business.

The Ash Tree Day Nursery already caters for 130 children and expects to take on even more throughout 2018.

Based at the Dee Point Building in Blacon Point Road, it provides full-time day care for children up to five years old as well as a before and after school club.

Since opening its doors in April, around £500,000 has been invested in facilities including a sensory room, swimming pool and 40-seater theatre and dance studio.

As well as the nursery, financial support has been provided by Avenue Services and Cheshire West and Chester Council.

A total of 12 staff work at the nursery, including two on apprenticeships, but they are now seeking more to cope with the ever growing demands and to continue to support families in the community.

The nursery is holding a recruitment day at the Parade Enterprise Centre in Blacon on Monday 29 January from 9.30am until 4.30pm.

Jason Ashcroft, owner of Chestnut House Day Nursery, said: “The response to the nursery from the local community has been overwhelming and it is proving to be a real asset.

“That we are looking to take on more staff is testament to that and I’m looking forward to welcoming people to the recruitment day.”

Prior to April the Dee Point Building had been closed for more than a year before being refurbished thanks to financial support from Avenue Services, a joint venture between Sanctuary Group and Cheshire West and Chester Council.

Paul Knight, Head of Avenue Services, said: “Ash Tree Day Nursery has been a huge success story and we are proud to be working with them. The new staff will only help it to continue to thrive.”

Anyone interested in the recruitment day can register by calling Angie Evans on 01244 383200.
