Family food festival promotes healthy lifestyles

27 March 2018

A new family event aimed at encouraging healthy living and cooking on a budget is taking centre stage in Blacon during the Easter holidays.

The inaugural Blacon Food Festival, which is being run by Avenue Services, will give people of all ages the chance to have fun with food and keep active.

Families will be able to find out how to make their money go further by picking up top recipe tips and learning how to grow their own fruit and vegetables.

There will also be fun competitions such as cooking an omelette in the quickest time, bread making, campfire cooking for children and family fitness activities.

The festival takes place at Blacon Adventure Playground, in Kipling Road, on Wednesday 4 April from 1 to 4pm, and organisers hope it can become an annual date in the diary.

Sandra Hewitt, Blacon Adventure playground manager, said: “Eating healthily and keeping active is important but doesn’t have to be expensive. This is a great opportunity for people to find out how to make their money and meals go further.

“A lot of hard work has gone into preparing for this event and we are really looking forward to seeing the adventure playground packed with families this Easter.”

Avenue Services, which is a not-for-profit organisation, is a joint venture between Sanctuary Group and Cheshire West and Chester Council.
