Summer of fun in store for Blacon residents

A summer of fun is in store for Blacon residents, with a jam-packed schedule of events and activities taking place.
There’s plenty going on throughout the summer holidays, with family fun days, sporting activities, fishing sessions, roller discos and much more besides.
Each week kicks off with ‘Monday Funday’ at Blacon Adventure Playground, where residents can enjoy archery, penalty shootouts, rounders, netball and zorbing between 12.30-3pm.
Our floodlit ‘Panna’ street football cage will be touring Blacon on Tuesday and Friday evenings, while children can make the most of the outdoors with activities and play opportunities at Blacon Nature Park, off Muir Road, from 1-3pm every Wednesday during August.
There will be roller discos at Blacon Adventure Playground between 12-2pm on Wednesday August 8 and 2-4pm on Tuesday 14 August, while Blacon Library has a host of fun events in store, including comic book and zoo ranger workshops.
The Canal and River Trust will be hosting free Let’s Fish! sessions on the Shropshire Union Canal in Blacon Avenue on Thursdays from 26 July, where all equipment will be provided and beginners and experts alike are welcome to join.
We’ve also got several special events planned, including a National Play Day celebration at Blacon Adventure Playground on Wednesday 1 August and a Family Day at Graham Road Park between 12.30-3pm on Saturday 11 August.
And be sure not to miss the annual Glastonvenny festival at Blacon Adventure Playground on Saturday 18 August, featuring music, karaoke and lots of fun and games for the whole family to enjoy.

“We’ve again worked closely with Cheshire West and Chester Council, Councillor Carol Gahan and our local partners to put together a varied and engaging programme of activities for the whole community to enjoy.”
