Makeover for popular Blacon play area

22 August 2018

A popular play area in Blacon is undergoing a refurbishment and having a new piece of play equipment installed.

Work to improve Graham Road play area started on Monday 20 August and is expected to take about three weeks to complete.

A new ‘space net’ is being fitted at the playground, with work to repair and repaint the perimeter and improve drainage at the site to reduce flooding issues also taking place.

The refurbishment is part of a wider development programme being delivered by Avenue Services in partnership with Cheshire West and Chester Council to improve play areas across the Blacon neighbourhood.

Paul Knight, Head of Avenue Services, said: “The on-going programme of improvements ensures that these popular facilities are maintained for everyone to continue to enjoy.

“We know our residents have been very pleased with the refurbishments carried out to date and we look forward to unveiling the new-look Graham Road in the near future.”

Cllr Louise Gittins, Cabinet Member for Communities and Wellbeing at Cheshire West and Chester Council, commented: “This is welcome news that local children will soon be able to enjoy the improved play area and the future plans will ensure there are plenty of safe and good quality places for children of all ages to play.

“The space net sounds very exciting and I’m sure it will be well used.”
