Funding available for Blacon community projects

12 November 2018

Funding is available for projects that will make a difference to the lives of local residents and the community in Blacon.

Our Neighbourhood Plan fund is now open for applications from groups and organisations who would benefit from some financial support to deliver activities and initiatives.

Grants of up to £5,000 are available and registered charities, individuals, community and resident groups, local businesses, schools and social enterprises are all welcome to apply.

Projects must benefit Blacon and successful applications will fit one or more of Avenue Services’ priorities for the fund:

• Increasing skills and employability
• Sustainable lifestyles and greener living
• Building connections and reducing isolation
• Growing neighbourhood pride and community safety
• Helping residents better manage their money

The Neighbourhood Plan has supported over 30 projects in Blacon this year, including a Royal Wedding celebration bringing residents from different generations together and a Living History initiative inspiring local school pupils to learn more about the area’s past.

Funding has also been provided to expand services and develop social activities for residents over 50, and to support Blacon Food Co-operative to deliver family engagement activities and promote healthy eating.

Paul Knight, Head of Avenue Services, said: “We are committed to investing in projects that will have a positive impact on the Blacon community and help our residents live happy, healthy and fulfilled lives.

“We look forward to hearing from groups and individuals who can help us to make a real difference.”

Further details and application forms are available here and applications must be submitted by 31 December 2018.
