Free microchipping at community event for dog owners in Blacon

30 January 2019

Free microchipping and health checks will be on offer during a special event for dog owners and their pets in Blacon.

The event, organised by Dogs Trust with support from Sanctuary Housing and Cheshire West and Chester Council, is taking place at Blacon Adventure Playground, in Kipling Road, from 11am-3pm on Thursday 7 February.

Vets from Dogs Trust will be on hand offering a free, on-the-spot microchipping service for those not yet chipped, a legal requirement since 2016.

There will also be plenty of advice and information for owners as well as free basic health checks and nail clipping for their pets.

Michelle Moat, campaigns officer for Dogs Trust in the North of England, said: “Events like this are an important part of our work to spread the message about responsible dog ownership and the importance of microchipping.

“We’re looking forward to visiting Blacon and meeting local dog owners and their four-legged friends.”

Paul Knight, Head of Avenue Services, which manages Blacon Adventure Playground, added: “Responsible dog ownership has an important role to play in ensuring our communities remain clean and pleasant places to live.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming Dogs Trust to Blacon and would encourage residents to bring their pets along and make the most of the important services on offer.”
