1 November 2019

Avenue Services is pleased to announce three new appointments to its Board of Directors.

Based in Blacon, Avenue Services is a joint venture between Sanctuary Group and Cheshire West and Chester Council providing community, environmental, housing, and youth services for the area.

Sarah Kirkup has joined the Board as a community representative, while Cllr Sheila Little and Cllr Trish Richards, both Blacon councillors, have been appointed as two of three members representing the council.

Cllr Little has also been appointed as Vice Chair of the Board, with William Hogg continuing as Chair.

Sarah Kirkup is a project development co-ordinator in the strategic economic development directorate at the University of Chester, as well as a mother of two and local resident.

She said: “I am delighted to be appointed. With my role at the university, and recently completed MA studies that focused on how best universities can work for and with their local communities, I’m confident that I will be able to add valuable skills and connections to the Board.

“I hope to champion the ambitions of Avenue Services as it works in collaboration with the local community to bring about social and economic benefit to Blacon.”

Cllr Sheila Little commented: “Avenue Services provides a fantastic service to the residents of Blacon. As a Blacon resident and councillor for Blacon, I was pleased to be asked to serve on the Board and to support William Hogg as Vice Chair.

“I would also like to thank the former board members, Cllrs Carol Gahan and Ben Powell and resident Yvonne Davies, for all of their hard work.”

Cllr Trish Richards said: “I look forward to representing the best interests of the residents of Blacon. To that end I see my role as a link between Avenue Services and the community.

“May I also take this opportunity to thank current members of the Board for the welcome I received and send my best wishes to those who have previously served.”

Paul Knight, Head of Avenue Services, said: “I would like to formally welcome Sarah, Sheila and Trish onto the Avenue Services Board and also express my personal thanks to the board members who have stepped down.

“Avenue Services has been very fortunate in having exceptional board members over the years that are passionate about the business and want to make a positive impact in the community.

“Our new board members bring a wealth of skills, experience and expertise and will make a valuable contribution to our mission to drive improvements and deliver the very best services for the benefit of our local residents.”
