Delivering festive treats for young people in Blacon

9 December 2020

Developer Sanctuary Homes has delivered some early festive treats for young people in Blacon.

Sanctuary Homes is currently creating 16 new affordable apartments, a GP surgery and health centre on land next to the existing Parade Enterprise Centre, which is managed by Avenue Services.

As part of its commitment to supporting local community projects through its MORE! programme, members of the construction team took time out to deliver hundreds of festive selection boxes to Blacon Adventure Playground.

Head of Construction, Neil Ruecroft, and Senior Development Manager, Danielle Wrigley, donned their Christmas jumpers to deliver the goodies to the playground, which is owned and managed by Avenue Services.

Danielle Wrigley said: “It’s always great to be able to support local projects where we work, it’s what our MORE! programme is all about. Where we can, we and our contractor partners pledge to support communities by donating time, manpower or, in this case, some festive cheer.

“The new development will be a great asset to the community. We hope all the children enjoy their festive treats and, as we will be on site this time next year, we have also pledged to do the same again!”

The selection boxes will be used to make up special Christmas packages that the Adventure Playground team will be delivering to 400 local children over the festive period.

Paul Knight, Head of Avenue Services, commented: “We’d like to say a big thank you to Sanctuary Homes for this generous donation, which will help us spread festive cheer to young people in Blacon this Christmas.

“It’s great to see the new surgery, homes and health centre taking shape. The development will bring vital facilities to the heart of Blacon and be a real asset for the local community.”
