Avenue Services welcomes new Community Director

Avenue Services is pleased to announce that Blacon resident Alan Smith has been appointed to its Board as a Community Director.

Based in Blacon, Avenue Services is a joint venture between Sanctuary Group and Cheshire West and Chester Council providing community, environmental, housing, and youth services for the area.

Alan has lived in Blacon for almost 60 years and attended Dee Point Primary and Blacon High School. Now semi-retired, he previously worked for organisations including the University of Chester and the former Cheshire County Council.

He is actively involved with community organisations, including the Here and Now social group for older people, and is Chair of the Blacon History Group.

Alan said: “I’m delighted to be appointed to the Board and look forward to getting to work.

“So much has already been achieved in Blacon over recent years. I’m excited to contribute to that ongoing work and to look at what we can do to achieve even more.”

Alan replaces former community director Sarah Kirkup, who has reached the end of her two-year term on the board.
