Community grants available to benefit Blacon

Funding available to boost projects

Community groups in Blacon are being given the opportunity to apply for funding to support projects that will benefit local residents in 2022.

Avenue Services has grants of up to £5,000 available for organisations such as community and resident groups, schools, businesses and charities.

With many groups working hard to provide events and activities during the pandemic, the money would be a welcome boost over the next 12 months.

The money can be used for a wide range of projects but it needs to benefit Blacon and meet at least one of the priorities for the fund. These are:

  • Building connections and reducing isolation
  • Sustainable lifestyles and greener living
  • Growing neighbourhood pride and community safety
  • Helping residents better manage their money
  • Increasing skills and employability.

The funding comes from the Avenue Services Neighbourhood Plan and applications are now being encouraged. The closing date is 31 January 2022 and successful applicants will be notified by the middle of March.

Paul Knight, Head of Avenue Services, said: “So much has happened during the pandemic and community groups have played a huge role in supporting the people of Blacon.

“This funding will help them to continue that and do even more despite the difficult times we live in.

“Please consider making an application as it could make a real difference to the local community. We’d love to hear from you.”
